Aurora and whales

AURORA AND WHALES

The waters and fjords surrounding Seiland Island in Northern Norway are home to an extraordinary variety of wildlife all year round. From mid-October to late January, Seiland becomes one of the best places in Norway for whale watching, as Orcas, Humpback whales, and Fin whales migrate through these rich Arctic waters. Many days, the whales swim directly past Seiland House, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience right from your doorstep.

This unique season also coincides with one of nature’s most breathtaking phenomena: the Northern Lights. Seiland’s remote island location—far from cities and light pollution—creates ideal conditions for aurora viewing and photography.
After an unforgettable day of Whale Watching around Seiland and in the Altafjord, the night sky often rewards visitors with the magical dance of green and purple lights overhead.

FACILITIES

At Seiland House, comfort is simple, warm, and designed to let nature take center stage. This is not a luxury retreat—it’s a welcoming house for travelers who value authentic Arctic experiences, wild landscapes, and unforgettable moments over polished perfection.

Our apartments and bedrooms are cozy and functional, offering everything you need after a day outdoors. On clear nights, the Northern Lights can sometimes be seen directly from your room through panoramic windows, reminding you that here, nature is always close. We provide warm clothing and winter boots, along with local advice for exploring the area and increasing your chances of seeing the Aurora

Evenings at Seiland House are about slowing down and sharing experiences. Guests can enjoy traditional dinners by candlelight, relax with a drink from our Caribbean-inspired bar, or unwind in the outdoor sauna and hot tub, where the Northern Lights may appear overhead. Comfort here is about warmth, good hosting, connection, and being fully immersed in the Arctic environment.

ACTIVITIES

We offer two stay options in the period from middle of October to end of Navember: a three-night experience from Thursday to Sunday and a four-night experience from Sunday to Thursday. Both are designed to give guests enough time to disconnect from everyday life and connect with the Arctic environment.

Your stay includes guided whale watching tours by boat, departing directly from our pier, and guided Northern Lights experiences in the surroundings of Seiland House. Between activities, guests share meals at the house, relax in cozy apartments, and enjoy time in the outdoor sauna and hot tub under the Arctic sky.

Our package also includes: all airport and local transfers, meals, outdoor clothing, and boots, allowing you to focus on the experience. Staying here also means a close encounter with local island life, where nature, weather, and community shape each day.

These autumn stays are about real Arctic moments—quiet fjords, shared adventures, and unforgettable nights beneath the Northern Lights. Red more under here and book your package with us!
